It’s Been Awhile…

Understatement, I know. Let me tell you something, I’ve been crazy busy with my off-line life as well as my online life, working on fansites and getting screencaps done for SCNET[1. Shortened version of Screencapped.net.] I haven’t really had time to blog or even think about what I was going to blog!

A lot has happened since July, but nothing too noteworthy. We had a good Christmas and New Years, John took me out for a surprise on my birthday[2. January 10th] down to Nashville for dinner and games at Dave & Busters. Also, a bunch of friends showed up to join us! I definitely didn’t see it coming, and I had a lot of fun :D

Last Saturday one of my friends and I went downtown to this diet doctor thing, got signed up, got a prescription for a energy-boosting and appetite-curving pill, and also got put on a very strict diet – No bread, no pasta, no fruit, no milk, yogurt, processed cheese, and obviously no sweets. It’s been pretty tough, giving up the pasta and bread and rice, but in the past week and a half, I have lost 10lbs! I’m going to keep trying to stick with it at least until the beginning of next month when we go back in for a follow-up and renewal of the prescription. I also finally made it to the gym tonight with the hubs. We shall see what the scale says in the morning!

Home for the Holidays

OMG I didn’t realize it had been so long since I blogged on here  I really haven’t had much to rant about, and my life isn’t that interesting to just talk about my day :p

John is going to the field tomorrow, only for a night, but it sucks. I feel so bad for him, because it’s getting colder and it’s been raining all day. So, the ground is probably going to be all soggy and wet and cold and he’ll be out there “playing soldier” as he calls it, sleeping on the ground and all. Plus side is I can sprawl out as much as I want in the bed tomorrow night

I spent all night and this morning working on the new theme you see here, called Winter Wonderland. I really like it. I wanted something simple, and winter/Christmas themed. I also wanted the blog part of the site to take a back seat, as I don’t spend a lot of time here anymore. So, now the main page is basically a domain collective-looking page.

I’m also getting excited about Christmas! :) We are actually going home for the holidays, which is a big change from the past few years. We were in Alaska, and it’s so expensive to travel we couldn’t afford to take the plane trips home. This year, since we are within driving distance (8 hours if we do it without stopping) we are able to make it home! We are driving out the 7th of December, since we have a wedding to attend the 8th, and staying through the 28th. John’s birthday is the 13th, then our 3-year anniversary is the 19th and then Christmas on the 25th. Whew! Then to top it off, when we get back to Tennessee, we have New Year’s, and my birthday on the 10th of January! :p

I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday season :)

Busy Time of Year

Yes, this time of the year is usually busy for most people. However, in my house, it’s busier than ever!

December 13 is John’s birthday. December 19 is our anniversary <3 December 25 is Christmas. December 31 is New Year's Eve. January 10 is my birthday! It's crazy! John and I decided that starting this year (well, next year technically) we are going to start putting about $50 per paycheck (so $100 a month) away in savings. This way, we’ll have roughly $1,200 each year to spend on Christmas/birthday/anniversary gifts! I hope we can do that because it would make everything so much easier to figure out and not get freaked out about where the money for gifts will come from! And, then, in March we have Easton’s birthday and he’s turning 1 this (next) year! At the end of the blog are some pictures from our family Christmas “shoot” we did :)

We are hoping to make it home back to Wisconsin for his first birthday. The main reason we are “trying” is because John is getting stationed down in Kentucky starting next year. As of right now, we are supposed to be leaving February 29, and that means if we leave that day, we have 10 days to make it back home. We were originally going to drive the whole way from way up here in Alaska down through Canada, but we decided that since we are leaving so close to Winter, the roads probably will still be pretty bad so we don’t want to risk it. Instead, we are planning on shipping the car down to Seattle, WA or Tacoma, WA a couple weeks early, then fly from here to there, then drive across to Wisconsin. It would be so exciting for me, as I haven’t been more west than Nebraska, so I’ll be seeing “a whole new world” ;)

What are everyone’s plans for Christmas, if any?

… and a Happy New Year!

Ah…. Christmas came and went and it was a decent day for me :) We ended up having to get up super early, 6AM, to start the ham as it needed to be slow-cooked for 8 hours and we had planned on eating at 2PM. After John started the ham, I made breakfast, which was cinnamon rolls and they were decent. We opened our presents with our friend Nate who had spent the night and was staying all day with us. Got some great gifts!

I was really surprised with what John’s mom got me! It was the Nikon camera! John and I have both been out of a camera (other than the crappy ones on our phones) for months! So, this was definitely a nice gift and I’m really glad we have a camera now! :yay: The other two gifts in the pictures were from John. The one is a figurine from Beauty and the Beast. When we were shopping for our parents, we had seen some of the Disney princesses figurines at the store and I had said how it would be cool to get a collection of all of them. I guess he decided I should start collecting now! :D He also got me the set of all three of the Twilight Saga games. I was a little angry at this cuz I had told him I didn’t want to get any of the Twilight games until all the movies were out so I could have all the games at once, but apparently he had bought it before I had said anything about it lol Nate also had gotten me the first 4 seasons of Grey’s Anatomy! That made me pretty excited too! :D

We had a lot of success with making Christmas dinner and the desserts. John made some cookies, I made some fudge for the first time and tried again to make chocolate creme pie. My pie set, but not completely…. it was more like chocolate pudding pie :( I’m getting closer though! It’s one of my favorite desserts and I won’t stop til I can get the recipe right! haha The recipes for the fudge and the cookies I put up on the recipes page for anyone who’d like to try them out!!! :)

I did feel a little nauseous earlier in the day, after we had had breakfast I took a nap as I was really tired and when I woke up I felt even worse! :( Luckily I made it though the day and today we got up early to see my family on the webcam. Well, Yahoo! Messenger wasn’t liking us to use the video call, so we just used the webcam and a cell phone  Then John went to Boston’s to watch the Packer game, and I went back to sleep…. for four hours! It was nice though, and I’m still a little sleepy but I’m hoping that that helped catch me up on my sleep and tomorrow will be back to normal. I found out the gym on post has a pool so I’m planning on swimming tomorrow while John works out… They say swimming is one of the best work-outs for the pregnant ladies as the water takes all your weight! :D Hopefully I can still fit in my bathing suit!

How was your Christmas? Did you get any good presents?

Total Eclipse of the Heart

I can’t believe Christmas is getting so near :D I am super excited to cook dinner for the first time! And by dinner I mean Christmas dinner… I make dinner on a quite regular basis :p This is the first year that I won’t be home with the family back in Wisconsin for the holidays. It does make me quite sad to think that I won’t be able to see everyone, but guess what? I will! We are planning to use Yahoo! Messenger to webcam with the fam back home! :D Our computer (well, it is technically John’s) apparently won’t download Skype so we are stuck with messenger. I don’t really care, as long as I can see my family!

The other night there was a total lunar eclipse! Apparently it’s the first in like 34 years or something? It was cool to be able to see it and in Alaska! The moon was really small cuz it was far up in the sky and my camera is broken! All I have is my little iPhone and it didn’t pick up shit so the pictures you see here of the eclipse are from someone on facebook who posted her pics taken by campus. John and I only saw a couple minutes of it, just after the eclipse when the coppery color was starting to fade and it was like -20 degrees and I was tired so we didn’t stay long. I don’t remember ever seeing one before so I thought it was pretty neat even though we didn’t stay too long.

Another night alone tonight :( John has 24-hour duty again so he won’t be home now until 9AM tomorrow. He was only home today for dinner. It is helping me get things done though. haha Put off cleaning the entire house until this week and we have people coming over for Christmas! The house wasn’t really that unbearable, just really needed to be vacuumed because of all the dog and cat hair and the kitchen and dining room needs help. Oh and the bathroom because the cat insists on making a mess on the floor with his food and then moving it all over the floor lol I’m almost done though! Just need to sweep/mop the kitchen and then clean the bathroom. And we still have all day tomorrow and some time on Friday to finish :D (needs to be done Friday cuz a friend is coming over and staying the night). Wish me luck! :)

Did you see the eclipse? What are your plans for Christmas?
